Cotswold Farmhouse — Whole-property WiFi & CCTV

Challenge

Eight-bedroom Cotswold farmhouse with 600mm stone walls. Single ISP router covered the kitchen and nothing else — no WiFi in the bedrooms, the barn office or the yard. Four older CCTV cameras kept dropping offline.

Solution

Replaced the consumer kit with a UniFi gateway, PoE switch and three outdoor-rated access points positioned for stone construction. Re-cabled to four 4K cameras with weatherproof housings and cloud recording.

Outcome

Full-strength WiFi to every room, the courtyard and the converted barn office. CCTV streams flawlessly to the owner's phone — even from holiday in Spain.

Working Dairy Farm — Multi-building connectivity

Challenge

Farmhouse had fibre but the milking parlour, two barns and an office cabin were effectively offline. Couldn't run modern herd management software, staff used 4G on their own phones.

Solution

Wireless point-to-point links from the farmhouse to each outbuilding, with internal access points in every building. Six PoE-powered outdoor cameras across the yard, all on one dashboard.

Outcome

100+ Mbps in every building. Herd software runs without lag, parlour data syncs in real time, security footage is monitored remotely from the farmhouse kitchen.

Holiday Let Cottage — Reliable guest WiFi

Challenge

Five-star rated stone cottage was losing reviews over patchy WiFi. Guests complained they couldn't stream, couldn't work, couldn't even check the booking confirmation.

Solution

Dedicated business-grade router, two ceiling APs hidden in the beams, and a separate guest network with bandwidth limits and daily auto-reset. Simple WiFi card left in the welcome pack.

Outcome

Zero WiFi complaints in the following 9 months. Owner now mentions "superfast WiFi throughout" in the listing — repeat bookings up.

Equestrian Centre — Yard CCTV & staff WiFi

Challenge

30-horse yard with no reliable CCTV at night and no staff WiFi in the tack room or arena office. Owner wanted to check on horses overnight from her phone.

Solution

Eight low-light outdoor cameras with infrared, mounted across stables, arena and gateway. Outdoor access points covering the yard and arena. All on the owner's phone with motion alerts.

Outcome

Owner now monitors the yard from anywhere. Staff use a dedicated WiFi network for tack-room admin. Night-time incidents down — and easier to investigate when they happen.

Outbuilding Connectivity — Home office in the barn

Challenge

Owner converted a stone barn 60m from the house into a home office. ISP router in the kitchen barely reached the garden — useless 60m away through stone.

Solution

Outdoor wireless point-to-point link between house and barn on discreet pole mounts. Internal AP and PoE switch in the barn office. Cabling concealed behind the stonework.

Outcome

Full home-network speed in the barn office (220 Mbps). Video calls, cloud sync and CCTV all run on one seamless network.
